Seeking support in serving community

-

Editor: When the schools decided to offer only online classes, we learned of elementary children home alone or without the adult support they needed to succeed in school.

We immediately changed from our normal after-school support programming, to an all-day distance learning center. To keep kids safe, we had to increase our staff-to-kids ratio and purchase additional PPE and sanitizing supplies.

At the Lodi Boys & Girls Club we do whatever It takes to change a child’s life. Every child that attends our distance-learning program receives one-on-one support, high speed Wi-Fi access, breakfast, lunch, socialization and so much more. The club has also been providing groceries, masks, sanitizer, and support where needed.

The Cares Act is allowing 100% of cash donations to be deducted from this year’s taxable income for people itemizing and it allows an additional $300 to be deducted for people utilizing the standard deduction.

Please make a donation today to support the nonprofit of your choice. Community support is vital to the Lodi Boys & Girls Club and numerous other nonprofit organizations in our community. When you donate, you will know that you are not just making a donation — you are changing a life and many times even saving a life.

The Angel Charitable Trust has agreed to match every donation made to the Lodi Boys & Girls Club up to $10,000. Your donation before Dec. 31 will go twice as far as usual. With your support, we will keep doing what we do best with our outstanding staff and ensure our distance learning center is there for kids needing our help.

To donate go to: www.bgclodi.com. Or mail your donation to Lodi Boys & Girls Club, 275 Poplar Street, Lodi, CA 95241.

Thankful for community support

Editor: Even though we give thanks every day, it is even more so that we do it in this holiday season. Teri and I along with Viaggio Estate and Winery would like to express our deepest gratitude for all of you that have supported us throughout the years, but most especially in this time of crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year has been particularly challenging to say the least! But with all the outpouring of support that this community has given us, we are doing remarkably well, considering our situation. God has truly kept his hand of protection and blessing on us.

We know that we live in a special place where there is still the love of others and support for local businesses and we appreciate you very much. We are honored to live here and to be a part of this community and to be able to serve you.

I hope and pray that you will continue to support us, along with all the other wonderful wineries in our area. Thank you again!
