EDWIN WALL
Edwin Wall passed away January 6, 2021. He was our dad and hero. He was a healthy and strong man for 97 years. He contracted the Covid virus and was too weak to survive it. He was born on September 23, 1923 on the family homestead in Kremlin, Montana — the youngest of six children, Tom, Otto, Ted, Sam and Lydia. He served in World War II and fought across Europe and the infamous Battle of the Bulge.
After the war, he moved to Lodi and met the love of his life, Helen Clow Wall. They married and had two daughters, Chandra and Diane. He was also a loving father figure to two nephews, Ed and Tony Martin. They were beautiful parents and their marriage lasted 69 years, until he lost Helen in 2016. Ed was a courageous firefighter for the Lodi Fire Department for 32 years and formed lasting friendships with his fellow heroes.
He loved traveling the world, sports (a life-long Giants fan), playing cards, Bridge, chess, dancing, music, computers and everything technical. Ed was a selftaught electrician and computer genius.
He and his wife owned and operated King’s Cafe in Lodi and taught their daughters the meaning and value of a family working together. They relocated to Elk Grove in 1991 to be closer to their family.
He is survived by his daughters, Chandra Wall Blake of Sacramento and Diane Wall Frieders of Elk Grove; son-in-law, David Frieders; grandchildren, Clint and Chad (Rebeka) Blake, Julie (Jeff) Braswell, Chelsea and Jeff Manassero, Craig (Laurie) Frieders, and Justin Frieders; great grandchildren, Cole Elliott Braswell, Audrey Blake and Crofton and Claire Frieders; sisters-in-law, Doreen Clow Dettwiller and Amelia Clow Lamar; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wall; and son-in-law, Chris Blake.
Ed was loving, supportive, had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller. You will forever be in our hearts. We love you more.
The family will hold a celebration of life when it is safe to do so.
