CLEOPHES JAMES ROEHRICH

-

Cleophes James Roehrich passed away from complications with pneumonia on December 23, 2020. Cleo was born in Fargo, North Dakota on September 22, 1944 to Mr. John Leo Roehrich and Anna Elizabeth Rohrich. He was the second oldest child of four children. His parents moved to Lodi California in the early 60’s. In 1965 Cleo married Mary Eva Marquart. They lived in Eureka California were they had their first two children Anthony and Michael. Cleo worked in a plywood mill. I remember him always telling stories about what it was like working there. Cleo and Mary moved to the Lodi area in the early 1970’s where they had two more children, Aaron and David. He worked for Carl’s shoe store until he found his career with Henderson Brothers. He went from pushing brooms to becoming a master of sheet metal. The greatest tinsmith I’ve ever known. I’m sure many will agree. He had to retire from Henderson Brothers after 37 years due to his health. He was truly heartbroken by this. He ended up, a couple years later, returning to work to help as much as he could until he couldn’t anymore. He absolutely loved his job.

He was a very special person who cared deeply about helping people. For those who knew him best, he loved working for a free dinner or two or three. He was the person everybody relied on. Even though Cleo and Mary divorced in 1989, they remained good friends. The family always shared the holidays together. Cleo was known for telling jokes and always being up for a good laugh and a card game every now and then. After retirement he was fortunate to travel the world. He visited Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and China, and maybe some that I have forgotten.

Cleo was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest sister Pat. He is survived by his younger brother and sister Michael and Shiela, also survived by all four of his sons and four grandchildren.
