Raiders will be NFL’s most expensive home venue when fans allowed back in

- Jerry McDonald

Raiders fans had better bring more than than their garish costumes when and if they are allowed inside Allegiant Stadium for the 2021 season.

Like their credit card. Or at the very least, some luck at the nearby gaming tables on the Las Vegas strip.

According to the website Tennessee Sports Betting, using data from Team Marketing Report’s 20192020 Fan Cost Index report, the Raiders will have the most expensive single-game ticket in the NFL.

One of the most affordable NFL experiences when playing out the string at the Coliseum in Oakland, attending a Raiders game will be the least affordable at an average of $236.97. That includes an average ticket price of $153.47 plus two beers, a hot dog and parking.

The second most expensive day at an NFL game belongs to the 49ers at an average of $205.75, which may or may not include being exposed to blinding sunlight depending on the seat location and the time of year.

Still to be determined for the Raiders is if the ticket price will change energy and diversity of the crowd in Oakland, which filled an admittedly small stadium capacity of approximately 53,000 for years despite a subpar product.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Raiders owner Mark Davis opted to keep fans out of the stadium for the entire season rather than play before much smaller socially distanced crowds. Davis contended he didn’t want to choose some fans over others in the stadium’s first year of existence.

Given that the Raiders were 2-6 at home and 6-2 on the road in an 8-8 season, they could use the help of a rabid home base in 2021.

The Raiders, by the way, also owned the most expensive average price for a single beer ($13) and tied with the Rams and Chargers of Los Angeles and SoFi Stadium for the most expensive hot dog at $7.50.

The most expensive place to park is AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where it costs $75 to watch the Cowboys.

Rounding out the top five most expensive venues to watch a game per admission after the Raiders and 49ers are Dallas ($198), the Rams ($194.12) and the Green Bay Packers ($192.93).

Ranking at the bottom of the list is the Cincinnati Bengals at $105.69.

When fans are allowed back at the Chase Center in San Francisco, they’ll be treated to the second-most expensive per game experience in the NBA at $203.30. That ranks behind only the perennially awful New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden at $260.38.

In Major League Baseball, a day at Oracle Park to see the Giants checks in at No. 6 at $83.65 per game, with the Athletics No. 15 at $62.54.

Catching a Sharks game at the SAP Center is fairly reasonable by NHL standards, ranking No. 19 overall including two beers, two hot dogs and parking. The New York Rangers are No. 1 at $182.43.
