STEVEN F. WESTGATE
June 8, 1950 — February 1, 2021
Steven Frederick Westgate, 70, passed away after an extended struggle with his health. He was born in Adrian, Michigan and moved to Lodi with his family as a young child. He attended Lodi High School where he participated in football and baseball. He later attended Chico State and became a P.E. teacher and coach at Tokay High School for approximately 25 years. Steve coached baseball, track, football, and badminton while at Tokay High School. He will forever be remembered for his generosity toward his family and students. Steve was very social and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He often delivered goodies or swapped recipes with the bank tellers or grocery store clerks. He was a welcome presence in the lives of his nieces and nephews as he spent a great deal of time with them on his boat, having family dinners, delivering Sunday donuts, walking the dog, sharing stories, or taking them to local events. He will always be remembered as the fun uncle!
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Treva Westgate; his sister, Maureen Clemons; and brothers, Leroy and Larry Westgate. He is survived by his brother, Jim (Donna) Westgate; brother-in-law, Bob Clemons; sister-in-law, Lynne Westgate; sister-inlaw, Joanne Westgate; nephews, Michael (Debbie) Clemons, David (Lisa) Clemons; nieces, Brynne (Jason) Ganott, Justine (Grant) Kincade, Erin (J.J.) Westgate, and Lauren (Kirk) Bottelberghe and many great-nieces and nephews. His memorial service will be privately held at a later date.
