BEV VETTER
Bev Vetter, 90, passed away on December 17,2020 at Lodi Memorial Hospital. She was born Beverly Jean Blewett on September 15, 1930, to Bernice Elspy (McCoy) Blewett and Arthur Earl Blewett. She married Robert Lee Vetter on February 28, 1947.
Although Bev lived her entire life in the Lodi area, she was a world traveler, having visited Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Mexico, Spain, Ireland, Morocco, Denmark, and many U.S. cities. She loved to throw parties and have people visit her. If you came to her Acampo home, she probably gave you some homemade apple turnovers. Or maybe she made you hamburgers, homemade french fries and a big ice cream shake. If you were lucky, you might have gone home with a jar of home-cured dill pickles. The Lodi-StocktonSacramento area is full of people who call her Mom or Grandma. Because if you knew her, you were family.
Bev was rarely idle. She ran Valley Plumbing and Sheet Metal with her husband for many years, retiring in 1987. During the early years of their married life, they rode matching Triumph motorcycles together. She was an accomplished pilot, first soloing an airplane in 1956. She became a helicopter pilot in 1984 and was the 459th member of the Whirly-Girls, an international organization of female helicopter pilots. She held board positions of Secretary and Historian in that organization. In recent years, she sewed costumes for Stockton Civic Theatre.
She was preceded in death by her husband (2007); her son, Edward Vetter (2014); and her brother, Allen Blewett. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Frey (husband Larry), Carol Wyrick (Bob), Kathie Dixon (Tom), and Barbara Vantine (Richard); grandchildren, Sherri Sutterfield, Michelle Brasuell, Mike Sherman, Jim Wyrick, Elizabeth Bennett, David Dixon, Melanie Dixon, Daniel Vetter, Melissa Carrero,
Chris Vantine, and Miranda Vantine; great grandchildren, Brandi Justice, Morgan Brasuell, Caleb Brasuell, Conlan Brasuell, Colton Brasuell, Lukas Sherman, Micah Bennett, Hannah Bennett, Arriana Carrero, Kesi Carrero, Nathanial Carrero, Samuel Carrero and Ethan Carrero; and great great grandchildren, Anthony Justice and Benjamin Justice.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer when current restrictions are lifted.
