RICHARD “RICK” LAWRENCE FUHRMAN

1950 — 2021

-

It is with sadness we announce that Richard “Rick” Fuhrman died unexpectedly on February 17,2021, but we are comforted in the knowledge that he is with the Lord.

It was on April 1st, 1950 that Melba and Harry Fuhrman’s bouncing baby boy was born into this world. And it was an entirely appropriate date for Rick Fuhrman to be born, being April Fool’s Day and all. Later the family welcomed younger brother, Craig. Rick was born and raised in Roseville, graduating from Roseville High with the class of 1968. After serving in the National Guard and working for the Citrus Heights Fire District, he began working for PG&E as a ditch digger. After several moves and promotions, he retired as manager of Stockton Gas Field Services, having had a rewarding and eventful 42-year career.

Rick was blessed with two wonderful children, Rhianna and Ryan, and later on he met and married Gail, who had two lovely girls, Charity and Jenna. He was one lucky dude.

He was a player of basketball, a lover of offroading, canoeing, and fly fishing, and he had a story for every situation (embellished or not). He and Gail enjoyed traveling the country on their Harley, and loved their RV trips to Alaska. If we had three pages, we could recite his story of the encounter with a grizzly bear while he was fly-fishing in Valdez! He also loved woodworking, perfecting his craft over many years, from framing his childhood home with his dad to creating many pieces of fine furniture.

Rick was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Lodi, serving as an usher, an elder, and a mentor of many young people. Some of his fondest memories were from mission trips to Mexico, Africa, and Camp Barnabas. He believed the biggest gift he could give people was his time, as evidenced by his devotion to God and his family.

He is survived by his (incredibly patient) wife, Gail; daughter and sonin-law, Rhianna & Dustin Snyder and their son Caiden of Loomis; son and daughter-in-law, Ryan & Jessyka Fuhrman, and their children Tylynne, Hailey, and Axel, also of Loomis; daughter and son-in-law, Charity & Jesse Ingalls of Red Bluff; daughter and son-in-law, Jenna & Richie Webb, and their children Mackenzie and Kaleb; his brother and sister-in-law, Craig & Melody Fuhrman and their children Crystal and Amy of Roseville; as well as other extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27 at 11:00 at First Baptist Church Lodi. In memoriam, contributions may be made to FBC Lodi.
