JOYCE FORKUM

October 20, 1938 — February 17, 2021

-

On February 17, 2021, God called his beautiful Angel, Joyce Pauline Robertson Forkum, from this life to her eternal home in heaven.

The highest calling of this life is to walk with God. “This is the end of the matter; Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.” (Eccl. 12:13) She walked with God. Her faith rested entirely on the finished work of Jesus Christ and God’s amazing grace. Her Christianity was not just emotion; nor meaningless words spoken. It was a strong confidence that she never wavered from. She never confused her relationship with God as a religion. The Holy Spirit within her was evident by the fruit of the Spirit. This is how she lived, and unconditional love was the foundation of her life, even in negative circumstances, the joy of the Lord was the breadth of living for her. Her peace was knowing that the suffering of life would fade in comparison to what God had in store for her. Her gentleness was humility toward God, and a selfless giving behavior toward others. Her goodness was shown in a life characterized by her desire to be a blessing to all those she knew. Faith was the practice of holding fast to the Word of God. She told all of her trust in the Lord. She lived a Christ-centered purpose.

Truly, God was her song and her salvation. She had the heart of Mary, who said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (Luke 1:46-49). She taught from a godly lifestyle. It was her faithfulness to the Lord that persuaded others to want a relationship with Him.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ted J. Forkum of 65 years. They

shared a strong, loving, and loyal bond, and a wonderful Christian spirit. We are now confident to say, “Great is Thy faithfulness” because we witnessed His faithfulness in their lives. Also surviving her, are her three children; Debbie Heitzmann, Tim Forkum and Alyc Maselli. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) We were told of His great salvation, and how our Redeemer came and paid the price of our sin with His own blood. We experienced the reality of the love of Jesus in their lives and the promise of heaven. Mom would speak of the blessed hope of the Lord’s appearing. We were not born a Christian, we were born into a Christian environment. As soon as we were able to comprehend names, we knew the name Jesus.

Joyce was born on October 20, 1938 in Antioch, CA to Leroy and Grace Robertson. She is preceded in death by her 3 siblings; Bobby Robertson, Kay Fisher, and James Robertson. She is a loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren; Nicole, Teddy, Michael, Melissa, Hunter and Zachary. 12 greatgrandchildren and 1 greatgreat-grandchild.

Joyce was in banking for 20 years and a Realtor for 14 years with Schaffer, Suess & Boyd in Lodi, CA. She attended Century Assembly. Her love of reading the bible and books, travel with her husband, family and friends, and giving to missions, has forever enriched many lives in God’s Kingdom.

In your selfless and loving spirit, your last words spoken to us this side of heaven were “are you okay?”

Forever in our hearts, a song of love, a song of praise. We will see you again Momma, loving wife, grandmother, greatgrandmother and greatgreat-grandmother, with all our love and devotion, Thank you!
