Eagles start softball season with blowout win

The Elliot Christian softball team opened the season with Tuesday’s 18-1 victory over Venture Academy courtesy of sophomore Natalie Snowden’s complete-game one-hitter.

Snowden had 11 strikeouts and allowed one walk.

At the plate, catcher Savannah Evans went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Snowden and shortstop Bailey Maynard had two singles each. The Eagles (1-0) also had singles from Brook Reich, Reece Schrader, Kylie Whittle, Sofia Ramirez and Samantha Tucker.

Elliot is back in action today with a home game against Delta Charter.

Softball: Lodi 8, Tokay 1

The Lodi High softball team went 1-1 so far this week, with an 8-1 victory over Tokay on Tuesday and a 6-3 loss to St. Mary’s on Monday.

Against Tokay, Isabella Hall had a home run and two singles, Shelby Katzakian also homered and had two singles, Kayleigh Coberly had a home run and a single, Johnna Schroeder had a double and two singles, and Kalie Toy and Haylee Gonzalez each had singles. Kennedy Brooks got the win with two strikeouts, and Hannah Escalante got the save with six strikeouts.

Against St. Mary’s, Kiki Mazza and Coberly each had two singles, Katzakian had a double and Schroeder had a single.

Lodi is 2-3, Tokay is 2-4.

Baseball: Bear Creek 13, Tokay 2

Cade Campbell and Logan Drummond each scored for the Tigers in Wednesday’s loss, which saw Tokay gather one hit, a single by Brett Graddy.

In Tuesday’s 23-9 loss to Lodi, Joseph Barnhardt went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, Spencer Berdahl added a double and two RBIs, Drummond had a single and three RBIs, and Max De Santiago and Cory Sugg each had singles.
