BETTY (FILLER) BECKMAN

-

Betty (Filler) Beckman joined our heavenly father on March 23, 2021 following a brief illness.

Betty was born and raised in Lodi, going to local schools and graduating from Lodi High School in 1946. She met her husband, Bob Beckman, when they both worked at the local telephone company.

Betty was an exceptional homemaker. She took joy in cooking her family wonderful meals and sewing clothes for both of her daughters until they reached adulthood. For many years she was famous with her family and friends for her delicious homemade dill pickles increasing the number of jars every year to accommodate the growing requests. Her delectable recipes are beloved by her grandchildren and continue to be family favorites.

Betty created annual traditions with her daughters. For over 30 years they attended the annual AAUW home tours in the Jackson/Sutter Creek area. Every summer she would take the girls on trips to Silver Lake and Santa Cruz, but her heart was in San Francisco. She loved all that the city had to offer; shopping, plays, tourist excursions and dining on seafood and sourdough bread.

Betty had a passion for flowers. She enjoyed working in the yard, growing many fragrant flowers that she would cut and bring in the house. She took great pleasure in making beautiful flower arrangements for all to enjoy. She would create dried and silk floral designs to sell at craft fairs and local furniture stores. She generously provided the flowers for the weddings of her grandchildren and on many occasions would create fresh flower arrangements for Sunday service at Grace Presbyterian Church.

Betty had a beautiful smile and a BIG heart. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her.

Preceded in death by her mother and father (Reinhart and Helen Filler), four brothers (Harvey, Lauren, Ernie and Eddie), two sisters (Violet and Ruby), husband (Bob) and daughter (Linda Nottingham). Survived by sister, Marjorie Parison, daughter Carol Beckman, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

It was Betty’s wish to refrain from a formal memorial service. In lieu of funeral services, and to honor Betty’s giving character, we ask that all who wish to participate make a donation to Glioblastoma Foundation at https:// glioblastomafoundation.or g/get-involved/donate or by mailed check to P.O. Box 62066, Durham, NC, 27715 or a charity of their choice.
