Charles Goodell, 100, of Woodbridge, entered into rest on March 23, 2021, peacefully in his home. He was born on August 13, 1920 in Caro, Michigan where he was raised. He was the youngest son of Andrew Goodell and Ruby Wixon Goodell. He married his wife, Carol Henderson Goodell, in April of 1942.

Upon graduation from high school, Charles attended the University of Michigan where he achieved his bachelors degree in Electrical Engineerin­g. Charles joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 during WWII. His rank was a Chief Petty Officer. At the end of the war, he moved back to Michigan with his wife, Carol, and his oldest child. He returned to the University of Michigan, Rackham Graduate school to finish his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineerin­g.

Once Charles received his degree he moved his family to Maryland where his second child was born. He took a job with the Naval Ordinance Laboratory and built his own home. In 1954 he took a job with Hughes Aircraft and moved to Los Angeles. He built his family a new home in the Hollywood Hills and his third child was born. In 1960 He moved to Northern California and took a job with Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporatio­n. His fourth child was born in San Jose, California. In 1971 Charles and Carol moved with their two youngest children to the small town Chester, California where he became an electrical contractor. In 1982 after their last two daughters had graduated from high school Charles and Carol relocated to Paradise, CA where they remained until 1996 when they relocated to Woodbridge, CA. In 2003 Charles lost his wife Carol. She was laid to rest in Paradise, CA. In 2007 Charles again found happiness when he married his second wife, Joyce Seiwert.

Charles is survived by his wife, Joyce Seiwert; his children, Arlene Mattson of Cardiff, Ca, Barbara Vice of Acampo, Ca, Joann Goodell of Rocklin, CA and Jeanmarie Homen of Livermore, CA; his stepchildr­en, Mark Seiwert of Citrus Heights, CA, Arlene Miller of Woodbridge, CA and Pam Seiwert of Lodi, CA; 10 grandchild­ren and 11 great grandchild­ren.

Charles’ life will be celebrated with a memorial on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10:00am at Calvary Lodi Church. Charles will be laid to rest with his dear wife Carol in the Paradise, CA cemetery on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 1:00pm.
