Lodi baseball wins in extra innings

Baseball: Lodi 2, Tracy 1, 9 innings

The Flames broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the top of the ninth inning on Tuesday to improve to 11-5 overall and 8-4 in TCAL play.

Billy Machado went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run, Auston Schmierer was 2-for-4 with an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Dominic Brassesco went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run, Colton Smithhart was 2-for-5, Fidel Ulloa had a double, and Bryce Ostlund, Tyler Meehleis and Hayden Hildenbran­d had singles.

On the mound, Ulloa went 7 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts and one earned run on four hits. Hildenbran­d got the win with 1 2/3 innings of relief, with one strikeout and one hit.

Girls volleyball: Tokay 3, Lodi 0

The Tigers scored a victory over their crosstown rivals on Tuesday, winning matches 25-23, 2511, 25-10, with seniors Ashley Ortegel, Grace Polhemus, Lauryn Eisenbeis and Olivia Burford leading the way.

Polhemus tallied seven digs, five kills and four aces, Eisenbeis had five digs and two kills, Paige Delph had 10 digs, five blocks, four aces and four kills, Kim Mercado had nine digs and four kills, Paris Vang had 14 assists and eight digs, and Dilpreet Brar had five blocks for Tokay.

• Lodi soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Tracy on Tuesday.

• Tokay basketball opened its season with a 52-51 overtime victory over Galt, which kept the Warriors winless at 0-4. The Tigers outscored Galt 4-3 in the overtime period.
