Tigers rally late against Bulldogs

The Tokay High baseball team rallied in the later innings on Thursday to defeat Tracy 10-6, with Tracy going scoreless after the third inning.

After three innings, the Tigers trailed 6-5, and put three on the board in the fifth and two in the sixth for the win. Brett Graddy pitched 4 innings for the win, striking out four while allowing four runs, while Corey Sugg went three innings for the save, with two strikeouts and no runs allowed on three hits.

At the plate, Joseph Barnhardt was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs, Logan Drummond was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs, Cade Campbell was 2-for-3 with two runs, Graddy had a single and two RBIs, and Zackary Patton and Matt Casillas each singles.

Kyle Corona blasted two home runs for Tracy, knocking in all six of Tracy’s runs.

Girls basketball: Tokay 42, Galt 19

The Tigers opened the hoops season with a victory on Thursday, with Jenny Corona leading the way at 18 points, eight steals and eight assists.

Paulina Barron and Michelle Vazquez added six points each, Kailey Cross and Yasmine Garcia had four points each, and Bella Nguyen and Kendra Goudie had two points each.

Tokay’s next game is Tuesday at Modesto Christian.

Girls water polo: St. Mary’s 9, Lodi 7

Elisa Grim led the Flames with four goals in Thursday’s loss, along with two from Morgan Vice and one from Sarah Campbell. In the cage, Lydia Campbell blocked seven shots.

Boys soccer: Lodi 3, West 0

Camden Locke, Rapha Maldonado and Christian Garcia each scored a goal in Thursday’s victory, while D.J. Van Ness and Alexo Tenorio had assists.

Goalkeeper Josh Moreno tallied a pair of saves while Kellen Brophy, Max Loiacono, Nico Lopez and Gonzalo Ordinola held down the defense in front of him.

Cross country: Tokay vs. St. Mary’s

All four of Tokay’s teams were victorious on Thursday at Lodi Lake, by very thin margins.

The Tigers’ varsity boys won 26-29, led by Zack Kellogg, who finished the 5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 31 seconds. Kai Bayers-Cardone was second for the Tigers at 10:19, followed by Manny Munoz at 10:19, Axel Castro at 10:38, Vincent Magnani at 21:01, Evan Delph at 22:42 and Valentin Vega at 23:58.

Tokay’s varsity girls took the top four places in beating the Rams 23-25, with Kali Anema winning at 21:39. Chloe Mohr and Sheema Mohson crossed at 22:40, followed by Angela Machado at 23:56 and Harleen Samra at 28:29.

For the 2-mile JV boys race, the Tigers went 1-2-3 with Joshua Young at 10:58 (a personal best for his third straight win), Reuben Ripken at 12:25 and Bryan Yepez at 13:07.

The JV girls race saw another Tokay PR, with Emma Shackelfor­d winning at 13:56, followed by teammates Brooke Frisk at 14:14 and Annalyn Grant at 15:29 as Tokay won 23-34.

Boys tennis: St. Mary’s 5, Lodi 4

With Lodi winning the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches by default due to not enough St. Mary’s players, the Rams held on to go 5-2 in the remaining matches.

Lodi’s Logan Davis and Luke Fugate won the No. 1 doubles match 6-4, 6-4, and Jackson Kone defeated the Rams’ John Abraham 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Girls golf: Lodi 211, St. Mary’s 229

A close match from top to bottom saw a duel among No. 1s on Thursday, as St. Mary’s Skylar May shot a 2-under 35 at Woodbridge Golf & Country Club, only to see Lodi’s Amelia Garibaldi eagle the last hole for a 3-under 34.

Vivian Rojas added a 41 for Lodi, followed by Delaney Vasquez with a 43, Desiree Vasquez with a 45 and Kerrie Nickel with a 48 as the Flames improved to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the TCAL.

Boys soccer: Lincoln 3, Tokay 0

The Trojans scored all three of their goals in the final 15 minutes of an intense match on Thursday. Eric Cahue tallied six saves as the Tigers dropped to 23-1. Tokay next plays on Tuesday at Tracy.

Boys basketball: Tokay 52, Galt 51

Atticus Salazar led the Tigers in Tuesday’s victory, along with seven each from Majod Khan and A.J. Galvan, and six from Quentin Thompson.

JV baseball: Lodi 4, Lincoln 0

Andrew Wright threw a scomplete-game shutout in Lodi’s victory on Thursday, with nine strikeouts while allowing two hits and a walk.

Luke Toy had a pair of hits, and Carson Devine had an RBI single for the Flames (15-2).

JV girls water polo: Lodi 6, St. Mary’s 4

Addyson Thatcher scored the game-winner in this eon, while Morgan Schmierer had two goals and an assist, Holly Wilson had two goals, Cassandra Oaxaca had a goal and two steals, Rachel Pascucci had four steals, and Averie Lodi and Abigail Rusch had an assist each. Rusch, the goalkeeper, racked up nine saves.
