HAROLD SILER

“Show me, Don’t tell me”

Following successful heart surgery in January, Harold Siler, loving husband and father, contracted Covid-19 while recovering and passed away from Covid-related heart failure on February 10, 2021, at the age of 74.

Harold was born in Stockton to Sydney and Frieda Siler. He attended Village Oaks Elementary and Lincoln Middle School. Harold grew up across the street from the Little League field where he still holds the home run record today. In 1960, as a young teenager, Harold played on the US Junior Olympic Hockey team at Squaw Valley. At Lincoln High School, Harold was active in school politics, serving as class president, and in athletics, earning 10 varsity letters. He attended the University of Pacific on a baseball scholarship before transferring and graduating from the University of Tulsa. As an adult, sports continued to be a major pastime for him. He coached and sponsored his kids on many teams and enjoyed following the success of many local young athletes through the years.

Harold owned his own construction company and worked in and around the Lodi area for many years. His company grew by “word of mouth” and over time, many of his customers became close friends. It was known that Harold was hardworking and all knew he cared about providing the best service possible to each and every client.

Harold was a loyal friend. He would often pick up the phone to just “check in”. Many of his childhood friends remained lifetime friends. In keeping with his love of sports, he was a fisherman and he loved to hunt. He held many great memories of those times. Harold was seen as a “tough” man but he was equally as kind and generous. He was a man of his word. He will be so dearly missed by his family and his many, many friends who loved him.

Harold is preceded in death by his father Sydney and mother Frieda.

Harold is survived by his wife, Deeann; daughter, Brittany (Wyatt) Ruff of Meridian, Idaho; son, Jimmy Beltz of Lodi; brother, Steve (Alena) Siler of Mendocino; grandson, Levi Ruff; and in-laws, Robert and Ruby Light.

Special thanks to Dr. James Morrissey, Nurse Practitioner Pam Rohrer and Reverend Dr. Paul Joseph Yang from St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care, compassion and for not giving up on Harold. The family would also like to give special thanks to friends John Farris, James Angel and Annette Piombo for their generous and selfless help with the business operations following Harold’s passing.

Harold wished for his memorial to be private. A small service for the immediate family was held.
