Lodi Lions install new board members
Richard Prima was recently installed as the Lodi Lions Club and Lodi Lions Club Foundation, Inc., president for 2021-22.
Prima is the 81st president of the Lodi Lions Club. A Lions member since 1998, Prima, a Stockton native, is a graduate of Stagg High School and the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in civil engineering.
Following one year with PG&E, he came to Lodi in 1975 as a junior civil engineer. Eventually, he became city engineer, and in 1988, Public Works Director for the City of Lodi. He retired in 2008 but worked part-time as interim Public Works Director for City of Galt for one year and still works for the City of Plymouth as project manager on special projects. Prima is married to Marilyn Storey and has two adult children, Ben, of Lodi, and daughter Molly of Friday Harbor, Wash.
Prima has served on the Lodi Lions Club board for many years as a director, secretary, treasurer, vicepresident and now president.
His goals for the club are to implement recovery from embezzlement, including recouping lost funds, implement small service projects for seniors and youth, continue support for the WOW museum and Lodi Parks, and increase membership.
Completing the Lodi Lions Club board are Celia Edwards, first vicepresident; past-president Mike O’Connell, secretary; past-president Ellen Ashbaugh, treasurer; pastpresident Bob Quenzel, membership director; Bryan Hickingbottom and Debi Baker, one-year directors; past-presidents Jim Sanders and Scott Keithley, two-year directors, and Darlene Carrera, immediate past-president.
Locally, in addition to vision and hearing related services, the Lodi Lions Club provides college scholarships, participates in the Lions Student Speaker contest, and is involved in many projects throughout the community.
Recently, the Lodi Lions Club Foundation completed the renovation of the “Tot-lot” at Emerson Park.
