Galt schools drop Friday football games

The Liberty Ranch football team dropped its opener on Friday with a 24-21 nailbiter against Linden, with all three of the Hawks’ scores.

Liberty Ranch quarterbac­k Logan McCreery completed 5 of 10 passes for 64 yards, with a touchdown (and 18-yard strike to Arthur Draeger) and an intercepti­on, while sophomore Kymani Fenika led on the ground with 63 yards on 10 carries.

Draeger added a pair of rushing touchdowns, with 36 yards on 8 carries. The junior was active on defense as well, with a pair of sacks and an intercepti­on. Hunter Maberto led the team with 9 tackles, and Jovanni Herrera had 1.5 sacks.

Galt also lost its game Friday, dropping a 35-6 game against Colfax to fall to 0-2.

CROSS COUNTRY Lagoon Valley Classic

Tokay High was won of 64 schools that descended on the Lagoon Valley course in Vacaville on Saturday, with six runners earning medals for finishing in the top 40 in various races.

The Tigers’ varsity boys placed 24th out of 28 teams with 597 points, led by Andrew Young with a 19-minute, 9.6-second run in the 5-kilometer course for a 90th-place finish in the 205-runner race. Hank Hiatt was 108th at 19:25, Axel Castro was 128th at 19:57.3, Luke Morefield was 131st at 20:00.8 and Evan Delph was 196th at 24:55.9.

Tokay’s varsity girls didn’t field a full team, with four runners making the trip, led by Sheema Mohsin placing 31st with a personal-best 20:41. Emma Shackelfor­d was 74th at 22:23.4, Annalyn Grant was 128th at 26:09.9 and Harleen Samra was 153rd at 30:39.4.

The frosh-soph boys placed sixth out of 20 teams on the 2-mile course, led by Joshua Young in third at 11:32.4. Reuben Ripken was 13th at 12:35.4, and Edmond Zimmer was 35th at 13:21.3. There was one junior varsity girls, Ida Bunar, who was 31st in her race at 18:28.9, and one frosh-soph girls medaled in Brooke Fisk, who was 24th at 15:07.7.

Lodi 12, Oakdale 3

Anthony Celli scored 5 goals to help the Flames to victory on Monday, along with 3 from Nathan Larson, 2 from Braden Endter and 1 each from Jackson Stilwell and Korben Reed.

Evan Peterson held down the cage with 6 blocked shots.

Junior varsity

Lodi 11, Oakdale 8

Ethan Elrod led the Flames with 7 goals in Monday’s victory, along with 2 from Talan Christy and 1 each from Roman Gutierrez and Caden Zicari. In the cage, Nick Bader blocked five shots and Tyler Carson blocked three.
