Robert Dayton Whitted was born in Miles City, Montana on October 23, 1928 and died of natural causes on November 16, 2023 in Elk Grove, California at the age of 95. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas, graduating from Wichita High School East and attending Wichita University. In 1948 he moved to San Diego with his parents Homer and Lucille Whitted and graduated from San Diego State University in 1950. Bob worked at Lik Nu Auto Works, the family business, while attending State and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

In 1950 he married Alice Rhea Olive at the Chapel in Balboa Park and was drafted into the Army shortly afterwards. He traveled with his wife to Camp Gordon, Georgia where Bob was a Sergeant in the 402nd Military Government Company and Military Police. Upon returning to San Diego, Bob began a career in commercial real estate with the Percy H. Goodwin Company. In 1959 Bob became Vicepresid­ent in charge of real estate for Henry Boney’s Speedee Mart chain. When Speedee Mart was acquired by the Southland Corporatio­n, 7-11 stores, Bob was appointed National Director of Real Estate for Southland Corporatio­n in Dallas, Texas in 1966.

In 1971 Bob returned to California and was Vicepresid­ent of Newman Properties developing shopping centers in the San Jose area. In 1973 Bob returned to San Diego as Vice-president in charge of real estate for Express Lane and Lavicious Markets. In 1976 Bob and two partners formed First Western Properties. In 1983 Bob retired and began playing golf and travelling to Europe.

Bob was a member of John D. Spreckles Masonic Lodge, the San Diego Jaycees, the Downtown San Diego Toastmaste­rs Club and the El Cajon Kiwanis Club.

Bob was a lifetime member of Morgan Run Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe. He traveled to Europe for 6 weeks every year for 38 years. He was President of Boardwalk Condominiu­ms in La Jolla and served as a member of the Board of Directors for 9 years. He was a member of La Jolla Presbyteri­an Church and served as an Elder at both El Cajon and Fletcher Hills Church.

Bob is survived by his four children, Lucy (Bill) Krieg, Larry (Venus) Whitted, Margie (Steve) Tilford and Susan Martinez and his 10 grandchild­ren, Vanessa, Monica, Brian, Katie, Sarah, Jacob, Luke, Rachel, Jaime Jose and Andres.
