Eagles out-duel Warriors in Galt tournament

Elliot Christian spoiled Galt’s opener in the Warrior Winter Tournament on Thursday in Galt, with a 51-49 victory over the host team.

Galt outscored Elliot 32-21 in the second half, but the Eagles had built a big enough lead in the first half.

Jeremy Nielsen led Elliot with 18 points and added 5 rebounds, Jayden Gaither had 17 points, 9 rebounds, 8 blocks and 7 assists, Elliot Burton had 7 points and 9 assists, Kaden Kirby had 4 points and 7 rebounds, Preston Tackett had 3 points, and Jayden San had 2 points.

For Galt, which remained winless at 0-4, Zavion Mitchell led with 17 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double, Jayden Smith had 11 points, Carson Cagle had 10, Joshua Dimapilis had 6, Wilson Garcia had 3 points and 6 assists, and Micah Jones had 2 points.

BOYS SOCCER Varsity boys: Galt 6, Cosumnes Oaks 1

The Galt High boys soccer team stayed undefeated on Thursday with a hat trick from Isai Meza.

Meza scored three goals and had an assist, Miguel Garcia had a pair of goals and a pair of assists, Vicente Marquez had a goal, Christian Gomez had two assists, and Breen Velazquez had an assist.

Galt will play again on Wednesday with a road game at McNair.

Varsity boys: Pleasant Grove 5, Lodi 0

The Flames were shut out on Thursday, and will host Turlock on Tuesday.

Varsity boys: Johnson 1, Liberty Ranch 0

The Hawks’ first win of the season eluded them with a narrow loss on Thursday. Liberty Ranch will host Escalon on Tuesday.

WRESTLING Varsity boys: Calaveras 46, Lodi 27

The Flames lost to perennial power Calaveras in a dual meet on Thursday, with four pins from Lodi wrestlers — Wesley Palmer pinned Anthony Cazares in the 144pound division, Javon Sison pinned Chrisopher Ortega at 165, Dominiz Zazzarino pinned Riley Arias at 126, and Drew Luiz pinned Elias Garcia at 132.

Ethan Warmerdam added a win by decision at 128, beating Owen Shahan 5-4.

Varsity girls: Lodi 42, Calaveras 0

The Flames scored a sweep on Thursday with two pins and the rest of the classes won by forfeit.

Lodi’s Emily Peters pinned Lily Valencia at 115, and Sarah Carpender pinned Emily Fuller at 120.

JV boys: Lodi 33, Calaveras

The Lodi JV boys also scored a shutout, with a pin from Joseph Silveira at 120, and three wins by decision — Aiden Short beat Keagen Brown 4-1, John Cloyne beat Nathan Kavanaugh 5-0, and Gabriel Bramasco beat Colin Dunne 9-7.

BASKETBALL Varsity boys: Tokay 56, Tracy 47

The Tigers opened the Freedom High Tournament with a win on Thursday, led by John Carlo Agbayani, Maeher Dhaliwal and Zeeshaun Akbar with 10 points each.

Jacob Ray added 9 points, Hashir Khan had 7, Felix Millan and Jason Hallstrom had 3 each, and Marcus Shoneff and Baris Baracaci had 2 each.

On Tuesday, the Tigers lost 64-55 to Livermore, with 21 points from Khan, 10 from Agbayani, 6 each from Shoneff

and Baracaci, 5 each from Dhaliwal and Ray, and 3 from Santana Lopez.

Varsity girls: Tokay 56, Edison 40

The Tigers opened the Stagg Tournament with a win on Thursday to improve to 3-4.

Varsity girls: Lodi 47, Rosemont 24

The Flames opened the Folsom tournament with a victory on Thursday, improving to 4-3 overall.

JV boys: Bradshaw Christian 47, Tokay 37

The Tigers lost on Thursday, with 13 points from Christian Mitchell, 6 each from Adrian Vasquez and Danyal Khan, 5 from Jackson Batch, 4 from Asher Pitchford, 2 from Angel Hernandez and 1 from Noah Gutierrez.

On Tuesday, Tokay lost 65-29 to Livermore, with 11 points from Khan, 6 each from Vasquez and Jacob Garibaldi, 3 from Pitchford, 2 from Anthony Aguilar and 1 from Hernandez.

JV boys: Lodi 71, Rio Americano 56

The JV Flames won in the Rocklin Tournament on Thursday, with 16 points from Jonus Currington, 15 from Jackson Butler and 12 from Habib Khan.

Defensive play from Xavier Davis, Matt Biglieri and Cooper

Mettler helped Lodi improve to 6-1 overall.

Freshman boys: Manteca 35, Lodi 25

The freshman Flames lost their first game at the Weston Ranch Tournament on Thursday, with 9 points from Cameron Rhoades and 6 from Will Wood. The Flames were scheduled to play Friday against Central Catholic.

Freshman boys: Livermore 50, Tokay 16

The Tigers lost on Tuesday, with 4 points from Lucas Victory, 3 each from Tanjiro Wallace and Faris Khan, and 2 each from Estevan Martinez, Tristan Domingo Adeeb Totakhil.
