Tokay goes up 2-0 on West in TCAL-opening series

The Tokay High bats stayed hot against the Wolf Pack on Wednesday, with 10 hits and nine walks as the Tokay baseball team won 11-4.

Brock Sell led the charge with a home run and a triple, with three RBIs and two runs. Ryan Oliversi went 3-for-3 with three runs, Noah VanDyke went 2-for-2 with a double and three runs, Tanner Johnson had a single and three RBIs, and Conner Preap and Paul Buckley each singled. Jackson Blankenshi­p added three walks, and VanDyke had two.

On the mound, Preap pitched three innings of scoreless ball with six strikeouts, one hit and one walk, and Blake Goen went four innings with four runs (one earned) allowed.

Tokay (8-7, 2-0 TCAL) and West will finish their series today at Kofu Park. Tokay won the JV game, 19-4.

Varsity: St. Mary’s 7, Lodi 3

The Flames scored two in the bottom of the seventh on Wednesday, but the Rams were too far ahead. St. Mary’s went up 2-0 in this week’s series.

Brent Godina hit a home run for the Flames and finished with two RBIs, while Vance Haskins had a double.

Landon Beasley, Noah Silvia and Gianni Brassesco each singled.

Andrew Fichtner got the start for Lodi and struck out five batters in five innings, while Aiden Abarca and Lorenzo Lew made relief appearnace­s.

Lodi (8-6, 0-2 TCAL) and St. Mary’s will face off in the final game of their series today in Stockton.

JV: St. Mary’s 7, Lodi 3

The JV Flames dropped to 0-2 in TCAL play with Wednesday’s loss, with a 2-for-4 day from Maddix Diaz, and singles from Jason Crawford, Hunter Rau and Lucas Crowder.

SOFTBALL Varsity: Liberty Ranch 13, Bradshaw Christian

The Hawks opened Sierra Valley Conference play with a victory on Wednesday, with three innings of one-hit ball from pitcher Carlie Perez and two hitless from Laura Quinn.

At the plate, Gracyn Graviette went 2-for-3 with two runs, Riley Sickels went 2-for-3, Khali Barrantes had a single and two runs, Natalie Vigil had a single and two RBIs, Quinn had a double, and

Shelby Duarte, Xiana Duarte and Perez each singled.

Liberty Ranch (3-4, 1-0 SVC) will host El Dorado today.

Varsity: Galt 5, El Dorado 4

Galt, which went 1-6 in the preseason, scored a victory to open SVC play on Wednesday. The Warriors will play at Rosemont today.

VOLLEYBALL Varsity boys: Tracy 3, Lodi 1

The Flames took a set off the Bulldogs on Wednesday, but fell to 0-4 in TCAL play in the end. Lodi will play at Tokay on Monday.

Varsity boys: St. Mary’s 3, Tokay 0

The Tigers lost 25-14, 25-13, 25-17 on Wednesday to fall to 0-2 in TCAL play.

JV boys: Lodi 2, Tracy 0

The JV Flames won on Wednesday to improve to 4-0 in TCAL play, with six kills from Will Wood, four kills and three aces from Tyler Protz, five kills from Jakob Bentz and three kills from Cesar Roman.
