Coastal Carolina gets to 11-0

Jaivon Heiligh caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Grayson McCall with 45 seconds left and No. 13 Coastal Carolina preserved its first perfect regular season with a 42-38 win over host Troy on Saturday.

McCall needed just 45 seconds to move the Chanticlee­rs (11-0, 8-0 Sun Belt Conference), who didn’t have any timeouts, 75 yards for the winning score against the Trojans (5-6, 3-4 Sun Belt).

at Buffalo 56, Akron 7: Jaret Patterson matched a major-college football record by reaching 1,000 yards for the season in five games as the Bulls (5-0, 5-0 Mid-American) routed the Zips (1-5, 1-5 Mid-American).

at No. 18 Brigham Young 28, San Diego State 14: Zach Wilson passed for 303 yards and three touchdowns for the Cougars (10-1) against the Aztecs (4-4).

San Jose State 30, Nevada 20: Tyler Nevens had a career-high 184 yards late Friday night in Las Vegas and the Spartans (6-0, 6-0 Mountain West) clinched the program’s first berth in the Mountain West Conference championsh­ip game.
