Morgan C Moore Jr., 91 passed away peacefully on January 27, 2021. Morgan was born on Flag Day in 1929 in Inglewood and was the son of Morgan Moore Sr. and Edna Carner Moore. Morgan grew up in Redondo Beach on a dairy farm on Earl Street with his sisters Shirley and Thelma and attended Beryl Heights Elementary, Central Intermedia­te School and Redondo Union High (class of 1947). Morgan participat­ed in sports, student government and attended Boys State in 1947. He went on to Occidental College and graduated in 1951 with a BA in Political Science. Morgan enlisted in the US Air Force and was a 2nd lieutenant in the specialty USAF Intelligen­ce division. He married his lifelong partner, Barbara Davis in 1955 and they put their roots down in Redondo Beach. Morgan founded Riviera Stationers in 1956 and grew the business over a 48 year period. He also got involved in real estate developmen­t and with his partners, he transforme­d the Redondo fishing pier in the 1970’s to a commercial venture including shops and restaurant­s. Morgan was a civic leader and was President of the Redondo Chamber of Commerce, Redondo Rotary and the Riviera Village Associatio­n. He was named “Man of the Year” in Redondo Beach. Many in the community remember him for his involvemen­t of the beautifica­tion of the Riviera Village which he was passionate about. He could be seen hosing down the sidewalks or taking a jog on the Esplanade for most of his adult life. He loved sports and was a coach for Riviera Little League, a long time member of Palos Verdes Golf Club and enjoyed playing golf, tennis and water and snow skiing. Morgan was a faithful member of St. Cross Church in Hermosa Beach and served as Senior Warden and Sunday school instructor. He and Barbara were members of the Peninsula Committee for the Children’s Hospital and volunteere­d for years at the annual Portuguese Bend Horseshow fundraiser. During the last years of his life, he resided at the Brookdale Senior Living community in Torrance, where he found a loving staff and community that included some old and new friendship­s.

Morgan was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents, Morgan and Edna Moore and his sister Thelma Freeland. He is survived by his four children Karen (Scott) Stuckman, Lori (Sean) Hunter, Morgan (Shari) Moore III, and Davis (Diane) Moore; his sister Shirley Byrne, 10 grandchild­ren Ashleigh (Ryan) Krauch, Eric (McKenzie) Stuckman, Matthew Hunter, Paige (Michl) Haralambos, Kelsey, Lindsay, Conner, Megan, Davis and Renee Moore; 7 great grandchild­ren, McKenzie, Carter, Cassidy and Grayson Krauch, Charles and Reagan Stuckman, and Hunter Haralambos. We would like to extend our thanks to the loving staff at Little Company of Mary Hospital for their care at the end of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Morgan’s memory to the Riviera Village Associatio­n www. rivieravil­lage.net to be used for future beautifica­tion projects in Hollywood Riviera.
