Julia Shizue Nakano

1936 - 2021

-

Julia Shizue Nakano was born to parents Shinzaemon and Aiko Mary Sugita, and older brother James Takasada, in West Los Angeles, California; and after a long, full and fruitful life, Julia passed away after suffering a fall and head injury, in Torrance, California. She was 85.

Julia married Koji Nakano in 1958, and gave birth to her boys, Kraig in 1959 and Derek in 1961. And she was overjoyed to welcome into her family a daughter, as Derek married Pamela Inouye in 1992.

Julia was passionate for her work in hospital administration, serving at several hospitals in Southern California, first as a medical record librarian, then as a Director of Medical Records, and then in the field of Quality Assurance, working with systems and people to bring about excellent, high quality medical care.

She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who lived for her family, supporting her husband’s trucking business and attending her boys’ sporting, music and school events, and becoming active in and regularly visiting the churches Derek and Pamela pastored. A lover of music and movies, and a lifelong Dodgers and Lakers fan, Julia watched and attended movies, concerts and sporting events throughout her life, and a recent family ritual that brought her great joy was gathering with her family at Dodgers Spring Training games in Arizona.

Services for Julia Shizue Nakano will be private. Memorial gifts in memory of Julia may be given to the local church of your choice, or the American Cancer Society.
