Bolivia offers a wide range of tourism

- Remarked.

This landlocked South American country is a destination that offers great geographic diversity and rich wildlife, as well as a fascinating colonial heritage and indigenous culture.

Bolivia, the “roof of the world”, has breathtaking landscapes, ancient civilizations and colorful fauna. Its natural splendor ranges from snow-capped Andes to salt flats and Amazon jungles. Bolivia is located in the center of South America. It was under Spanish rule for three centuries. Today, Spanish is spoken, along with more than 30 indigenous languages.

Begin your visit in La Paz, located on a plateau more than 3,660m (12,000ft) above sea level. See colonial monuments, shop at markets and discover the centuries-old cultures of the Aymara and Quechua peoples. Visit nearby natural attractions, such as the Valley of the Moon and Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.

North of La Paz, the Cordillera Real mountain range provides an excellent option for climbing and hiking. Visit the quiet villages of Coroico and Chulumani, located in the middle of the forested valleys of the Yungas. Follow in the footsteps of the Incas on the Choro or Takesi trails. Experience the thrill of biking or driving along the route of death, a precarious mountain road that connects La Paz with Coroico.

Take ecological excursions through the cities and parks of the Amazon Basin. Meet the Amazonian indigenous peoples and discover the wildlife in Madidi National Park. Take a boat ride on the Yucama River and observe the various species of birds, turtles and dolphins.

Discover some of the country’s most charismatic cities in southern Bolivia. Tour a tin mine and join the extravagant carnival festivities in Oruro. Admire the colonial architecture in the capital city, Sucre, or visit the silver mines of Potosí. Further south is Uyuni, an ideal base for visiting the Salar de Uyuni. See the flamingos in the Eduardo Avaroa National Andean Fauna Reserve or admire the barren desert landscapes of Tupiza.

Bolivia is a low-cost and safe destination for visitors. However, be sure to take only reputable tour operators and cabs. Due to its diverse topography, the climate is varied. Enjoy the captivating scenery as you travel between cities and sites of interest.
