Complaints cite Vladovic
L.A. school board president denies harassment or retaliation.
Los Angeles Unified School District officials Monday night released two redacted complaints in which one employee accused school board President Richard Vladovic of sexual harassment and another alleged verbal harassment and retaliation.
Through a spokesman, Vladovic denied that he was guilty of sexual harassment, verbal harassment or retaliation against the two unidentified employees. “We categorically deny all of the allegations except one: Dr. V acknowledges that occasionally he uses his outdoor voice indoors,” spokesman Mike Trujillo said.
The sexual harassment allegations date from at least a decade ago. The unidentified employee recounted one incident in which Vladovic allegedly handed her a swingers magazine.
Another incident, she said, involved an off-color joke.
In the second complaint, an employee said she heard from a supervisor that Vladovic, as a board member in 2011, had demanded her dismissal for failing to provide him with important information about what was going on in his district.
Vladovic was also the subject of two district investigations this year.
One cleared him of any wrongdoing related to the alleged mishandling of sexual misconduct allegations against a teacher.
The second looked into whether he had crossed legal or ethical lines in the reported verbal abuse of employees.
The district has finished both investigations but has not released the results.
Officials said the reports are protected by attorneyclient privilege. howard.blume@latimes.com
