Lilac Festival
Check out the flower power on Mackinac Island in June when the island lights up with millions of lilac blooms. Originally just a one-day event, the Lilac Festival now runs for 10 days and draws thousands of visitors to this picturesque island, where Lake Huron meets Lake Michigan. Mackinac doesn’t allow motor-driven vehicles; activities include a horse-drawn carriage parade and a Taste of Mackinac event. Two- and three-night tours, organized by Mission Point Resort, include lilac and garden tours with a horticulturist, and fudge-making tours. Dates: June 5-15 Price: $169 a night (two-night minimum), double occupancy. Includes accommodations, round-trip ferry transportation, breakfast, lilac and garden tour and other activities. Airfare not included.
