Here’s an ex­cur­sion that re­ally is for the birds. Wildlife pho­tog­ra­pher Dan Suzio is lead­ing a 12-day photography tour of Ecuador, known for its more than 1,600 species of birds. Par­tic­i­pants will jour­ney to var­i­ous lo­ca­tions and el­e­va­tions in north­west­ern Ecuador to ex­pe­ri­ence dif­fer­ent habi­tats and species. Hum­ming­birds, tou­cans, tan­agers and ibis are among the species that may be en­coun­tered. High­lights in­clude a pre-dawn hike to pho­to­graph the An­dean cock-of-therock, a day search­ing for An­dean con­dors and a visit to the Otavalo In­dian mar­ket. The work­shop is limited to five peo­ple to al­low for in­di­vid­ual in­struc­tion. Dates: Sept. 28-Oct. 9 Price: $3,995 per per­son, dou­ble oc­cu­pancy; sin­gle sup­ple­ment $495.
