Dancers, jugglers, musicians, firebreath­ers and lavishly decorated elephants are all part of the pageantry during the Kandy Esala Perahera festival, the oldest and largest Buddhist festival in Sri Lanka. The festival, held in August this year, commemorat­es Buddhist teachings. A 12-day Sri Lanka tour, offered by Ceylon Express Internatio­nal, will focus on the festival and include other highlights, such as a tour of the capital city of Colombo, visits to an elephant orphanage and several World Heritage sites, plus a game drive.
