Body found in parked van

The Los Angeles County Sheriff ’s Department is investigating the death of a man whose decaying body was found inside a van parked at a shopping center in Norwalk.

Authorities received a call around 5 p.m. Friday reporting a foul odor emitting from a gray and white van parked at the Norwalk Shopping Center, Lt. Eric Smithson said.

The vehicle had been in the same spot for several days, the caller reported.

The man did not have any identification on him, and there were no visible signs of wounds, Smithson said.

“The body had been there more than several days,” he said. Officers found “decay on the body,” he said.

Homicide detectives and the coroner’s office are working to determine the cause of death.
