Cotto knocks out Geale
Miguel Cotto retained his WBC middleweight title with a devastating showing of power, knocking out Daniel Geale in the fourth round at the Barclays Center in New York. Cotto (40-4, 33 knockouts) landed a huge left hook early in the round and knocked down Geale (31-4), who managed to return to his feet but not for long. Cotto landed a dozen more punches, missed with a few others, then put the Australian downagain with a straight right.
Referee Harvey Dock stopped the bout at 1 minute 28 seconds of the round.
Next up for Cotto could be a fight with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez later this year.
