KEY MO­MENT: Yasiel Puig ended a score­less tie in his first game for the Dodgers in more than six weeks, hit­ting a dou­ble to right-cen­ter field in the sev­enth in­ning to drive in Chris Heisey. Puig scored in the in­ning to dou­ble the Dodgers’ ad­van­tage to 2-0, go­ing from sec­ond base to the plate on a sin­gle by Justin Turner that hit the glove of div­ing sec­ond base­man Kolten Wong and rolled into cen­ter field.

ON THE MOUND: Pitch­ing for the first time since ex­pe­ri­enc­ing al­ti­tude-re­lated sick­ness in Colorado on Wed­nes­day, Ken­ley Jansen threw a per­fect ninth in­ning to record his sixth save. Clay­ton Ker­shaw had his best start of the sea­son, lim­it­ing the Car­di­nals to one hit over eight in­nings. Ker­shaw walked two and hit a bat­ter. He struck out 11 bat­ters.

AT THE PLATE: Jaime Gar­cia matched Ker­shaw for most of the game, keep­ing the game score­less through six in­nings. In seven in­nings, the left-han­der lim­ited the Dodgers to two runs and six hits. The Dodgers fin­ished the game with seven hits. Enrique Her­nan­dez was the only player who had mul­ti­ple hits, with two.

EX­TRA BASES: Right-han­der Ser­gio San­tos cleared waivers and elected to be­come a free agent. San­tos was des­ig­nated for as­sign­ment last week af­ter post­ing a 4.73 earned-run av­er­age in 12 games for the Dodgers. . . . Left-han­der David Huff cleared waivers for the sec­ond time this sea­son. Huff, who was des­ig­nated for as­sign­ment Tues­day, has again agreed to report to triple-A Ok­la­homa City. . . . Rookie out­fielder Scott Schebler was op­tioned to Ok­la­homa City to cre­ate a ros­ter spot for Puig. . . . Sec­ond base­man Howie Ken­drick was out of the lineup for the third con­sec­u­tive day, but was avail­able off the bench. Ken­drick hit in a bat­ting cage and ran on the field be­fore the game. . . . Bran­don League will start a mi­nor league re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion as­sign­ment.
