St. Louis 4, Dodgers 2

- — Dylan Hernandez

KEY MOMENT: The Dodgers were leading, 2-1, until a collapse in the eighth inning. Adam Liberatore walked the leadoff hitter, Kolten Wong. Liberatore was replaced by Juan Nicasio, who served up a triple to Matt Holliday. Holliday’s triple went into the right-field corner, where it rolled under the glove of Yasiel Puig. Puig’s misplay allowed Wong to score and Holliday to reach third base. Holliday scored on a single by Jhonny Peralta, who scored the Cardinals’ third run of the inning on a double by Matt Reynolds.

ON THE MOUND: Zack Greinke was in line for his sixth victory when he departed from the game. He limited the Cardinals to one run and six hits over 62⁄ innings. The run

3 charged to Greinke came on a sixth-inning solo home run by Peralta.

AT THE PLATE: Justin Turner batted cleanup with Howie Kendrick out of the starting lineup for the fourth consecutive game. Turner doubled in Puig from first base in the first inning to move the Dodgers in front, 1-0. Turner doubled the lead to 2-0 in the third inning by driving in Greinke with a single to center field. The Dodgers forced Cardinals starter Lance Lynn out of the game after only five innings, but finished the contest with only seven hits.

EXTRA BASES: Brandon League started a minor league rehabilitation assignment by pitching an inning in Lancaster for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. League was charged with a hit and an unearned run. The game was the first at any level this season for League, who has been sidelined by shoulder problems.
