Seven play­ers on the AL cham­pion Kansas City Roy­als are on track to start in next month’s Al­lS­tar game in what would be a record to­tal for one team.

Catcher Sal­vador Perez, first base­man Eric Hos­mer, short­stop Al­cides Es­co­bar, third base­man Mike Mous­takas and des­ig­nated hit­ter Kendrys Mo­rales all led their po­si­tions in vot­ing to­tals re­leased Mon­day. Lorenzo Cain was first among AL out­field­ers, with team­mate Alex Gor­don third, be­hind Mike Trout of the An­gels. Omar In­fante was sec­ond among sec­ond base­men. Etc.

A fan who suf­fered life-threat­en­ing in­juries af­ter she was struck in the head with a bro­ken bat dur­ing a game at Fen­way Park last week is im­prov­ing in the hos­pi­tal, her fam­ily said. The fam­ily of Tonya Car­pen­ter said in a state­ment Mon­day that her con­di­tion has been up­graded from se­ri­ous to fair. ...
