Seven players on the AL champion Kansas City Royals are on track to start in next month’s AllStar game in what would be a record total for one team.

Catcher Salvador Perez, first baseman Eric Hosmer, shortstop Alcides Escobar, third baseman Mike Moustakas and designated hitter Kendrys Morales all led their positions in voting totals released Monday. Lorenzo Cain was first among AL outfielder­s, with teammate Alex Gordon third, behind Mike Trout of the Angels. Omar Infante was second among second basemen. Etc.

A fan who suffered life-threatenin­g injuries after she was struck in the head with a broken bat during a game at Fenway Park last week is improving in the hospital, her family said. The family of Tonya Carpenter said in a statement Monday that her condition has been upgraded from serious to fair. ... The Houston Astros designated third baseman Matt Dominguez for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for top prospect Carlos Correa. Dominguez, who hit 37 homers over the last two seasons, had spent 2015 with triple-A Fresno. ... The Philadelph­ia Phillies signed right-hander Kevin Correia to a one-year deal. Correia, 34, who went 2-4 with the Dodgers last season, was released by San Francisco on May 29.
