More bodies found in Sahara

-

Officials reported finding 30 more bodies of people who died trying to cross the Sahara desert in Niger.

The dead were believed to have been headed for Libya, where migrants then attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe. They probably died months ago, authorities said.

The International Organization for Migration said the bodies had been found in Dirkou, northeast of Agadez. The discovery brings the total over the last week to 48 dead.
