Man struck by deputies jailed
An Inland Empire man beaten by sheriff ’s deputies after a chase on horseback has been jailed on charges of more than a dozen crimes.
Francis Pusok was jailed after his bail was raised to $400,000 at his arraignment Tuesday in Victorville.
Pusok, 30, pleaded not guilty to counts including evading an officer, livestock theft and animal cruelty.
Pusok’s lawyers say they want the San Bernardino County district attorney’s office disqualified from the case because of prosecutors’ close relationship with the Sheriff ’s Department.
Pusok reached a $650,000 settlement with the county after a video showed him being punched and kicked by deputies after he fled by car, then on a horse.
