TV deal for ‘American Gods’

- — Tracy Brown

Starz has given show runners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green the greenlight to adapt Neil Gaiman’s 2001 contemporary fantasy novel “American Gods” into a TV series.

The start of production is dependent on the casting of Shadow Moon, an ex-convict who is released from prison early after the deaths of his ex-wife and best friend. Shadow becomes entangled in the war between old gods and new when he takes a job with a mysterious con man named Wednesday.

Fuller’s credits include “Hannibal,” “Pushing Daisies” and the short-lived but critically lauded “Wonderfalls.” Green’s TV credits include “Kings,” “The River” and “Heroes.”
