TV deal for ‘Amer­i­can Gods’

Starz has given show run­ners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green the green­light to adapt Neil Gaiman’s 2001 con­tem­po­rary fan­tasy novel “Amer­i­can Gods” into a TV se­ries.

The start of pro­duc­tion is de­pen­dent on the cast­ing of Shadow Moon, an ex-con­vict who is re­leased from prison early af­ter the deaths of his ex-wife and best friend. Shadow be­comes en­tan­gled in the war be­tween old gods and new when he takes a job with a mys­te­ri­ous con man named Wed­nes­day.

Fuller’s cred­its in­clude “Hannibal,” “Push­ing Daisies” and the short-lived but crit­i­cally lauded “Won­der­falls.” Green’s TV cred­its in­clude “Kings,” “The River” and “He­roes.”
