Uber driver an em­ployee

A Cal­i­for­nia La­bor Com­mis­sion rul­ing declar­ing that an Uber driver was a com­pany em­ployee— not a con­trac­tor— has rat­tled the fast-grow­ing shar­ing-econ­omy in­dus­try. The rul­ing said that a San Fran­cisco driver was an em­ployee and en­ti­tled to re­ceive mileage and toll ex­penses be­cause her ser­vices were “in­te­gral” to the Uber’s busi­ness model.
