Pope decries WWII inaction

Pope Francis denounced the “great powers” of the world for failing to act when there was intelligence indicating that Jews, Christians, gays and others were being transported to death camps in Europe during World War II.

He also decried the deaths of Christians in concentration camps in the Soviet Union under Josef Stalin’s rule after the war.

The pope spoke during a visit to Turin, northern Italy.
