Pope decries WWII inaction

Pope Francis denounced the “great powers” of the world for failing to act when there was intelligen­ce indicating that Jews, Christians, gays and others were being transporte­d to death camps in Europe during World War II.

He also decried the deaths of Christians in concentrat­ion camps in the Soviet Union under Josef Stalin’s rule after the war.

The pope spoke during a visit to Turin, northern Italy.
