Pope de­cries WWII in­ac­tion

Pope Fran­cis de­nounced the “great pow­ers” of the world for fail­ing to act when there was in­tel­li­gence in­di­cat­ing that Jews, Chris­tians, gays and oth­ers were be­ing trans­ported to death camps in Europe dur­ing World War II.

He also de­cried the deaths of Chris­tians in con­cen­tra­tion camps in the Soviet Union un­der Josef Stalin’s rule af­ter the war.

The pope spoke dur­ing a visit to Turin, north­ern Italy.
