New faces on familiar bills

Re “Plan for woman on $ 10 bill lauded,” June 19

Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew’s plan to possibly replace Alexander Hamilton on many of our $ 10 bills with a yet- to- benamed woman should be stopped cold.

Hamilton was one of our Founding Fathers. He authored many of the Federalist papers, fought in the Revolutionary War and resolved our national debt thereafter.

In contrast, Andrew Jackson, adorning our $ 20 bill, violated treaties with Native Americans. If anyone’s face is to be replaced on our currency, let it be Jackson’s. Phil and Mary Ellen Barnes San Pedro
