Fire in­ves­ti­gated at black church

Fed­eral and state in­ves­ti­ga­tors are look­ing into a fire that de­stroyed a pre­dom­i­nantly black church in War­renville.

Lo­cal news out­lets re­ported that the fire de­stroyed the Glover Grove Mis­sion­ary Bap­tist Church on Fri­day morn­ing.

Aiken County sher­iff ’s deputies and agents from the South Carolina Law En­force­ment Di­vi­sion and the FBI are look­ing into the fire.

Capt. Eric Ab­dul­lah, spokesman for the Aiken County Sher­iff ’s Of­fice, said no cause has been de­ter­mined, and his of­fice has given the case to in­ves­ti­ga­tors from the state agency.

Re­cent ar­son fires have caused dam­age to pre­dom­i­nantly black churches in Char­lotte, N.C., and Ma­con, Ga., of­fi­cials say.
