Lince­cum takes liner on arm

Right-han­der Tim Lince­cum of the San Fran­cisco Giants suf­fered a right arm bruise when he was hit by a line drive Satur­day and left the game against the Colorado Rock­ies at AT&T Park.

Lince­cum was struck by DJ LeMahieu’s liner in the sec­ond in­ning. The ball def lected to first base­man Buster Posey, who threw home to get Chris Rusin try­ing to score.


Pittsburgh cen­ter fielder An­drew McCutchen left the game against At­lanta in the first in­ning af­ter get­ting hit in the left el­bow with a pitch from Julio Te­heran. Xrays were neg­a­tive. . . . Hous­ton left-han­der Brett Ober­holtzer was ejected in the sec­ond in­ning for throw­ing at Alex Ro­driguez of the New York Yan­kees. . . . Left­hander Jo­han San­tana, a two-time Cy Young Award win­ner, has aban­doned his come­back bid with Toronto, partly be­cause of an in­fected toe.
