The Amer­i­can Cine­math­eque’s Aero Theatre and the Art Di­rec­tors Guild Film So­ci­ety present a screen­ing Sun­day of the 1938 Tech­ni­color swash­buck­ler “The Ad­ven­tures of Robin Hood” star­ring Er­rol Flynn, Olivia de Hav­il­land and Basil Rath­bone. The pro­gram will also shine the spotlight on the film’s Os­car-win­ning pro­duc­tion de­signer, Carl Jules Weyl. The Ger­man-born Weyl was a suc­cess­ful ar­chi­tect in Los An­ge­les be­fore en­ter­ing films, de­sign­ing the Brown Derby and Hol­ly­wood Palace Theatre. Weyl, who died in 1948 at age 57, also de­signed 1942’s “Casablanca” and 1946’s “The Big Sleep.” Pro­duc­tion de­signer Thomas A. Walsh will host the screen­ing.
