Sarkisian finishes at No. 1

The homes of USC’s football coach and a motivation­al speaker as well as a newly built estate in San Marino were among the priciest sales in the greater Los Angeles area last week.

$9.15 million — San Marino

In the 1100 block of Saint Albans Road, a newly built French Colonial-style home on more than three quarters of an acre sold after coming to market in May for $9.69 million. The 8,431-squarefoot home features handmade wood paneling, a formal entry with a wrought-iron staircase, grand formal rooms, six bedrooms and 7.25 bathrooms. A 2,100-square-foot finished basement includes a play room, a wine room and a home theater with a 150-foot screen. Outdoors, a tennis/basketball court, a swimming pool and spa and a pool house with a bathroom and kitchen make up the grounds. The property previously sold for $6.5 million in 2014. Hong Jie Pan of Re/Max Elite Realty was the listing agent.

$8.55 million — Rolling Hills

USC football coach Steve Sarkisian sold an 8,250square-foot home on Saddleback Road for $950,000 less than the asking price of $9.5 million. He paid $8 million for the house about a year ago. The renovated ranch-style home sits on a sprawling 5.2-acre setting with a 500-tree orchard, a 2,200-gallon koi pond, a tennis court, a putting green and a swimming pool. Indoor amenities include a media room, a wine cellar, two offices, six fireplaces and 18 television­s. There are five bedrooms and eight bathrooms in all. Chris Adlam of Vista Sotheby’s Internatio­nal Realty was the listing agent. Jeanevra Calhoun of Beach City Brokers represente­d the buyer in the sale.

$7.995 million — Malibu

Self-help author and motivation­al speaker Lucinda Bassett sold an oceanfront home in the 30500 block of Morning View Drive after relisting it in July for $8.2 million. The Mediterran­eanstyle home on a bluff above Zuma Beach was built in 1993 and has five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in 5,590 square feet of space. A detached guesthouse, a lighted tennis court and an ocean-facing swimming pool and spa make up the 1-acre grounds. Christophe­r Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker Residentia­l Brokerage and Santiago Arana of the Agency shared the listing. Brian Whitcanack of Keller Williams Realty represente­d the buyer.

$6.3 million — Pacif ic Palisades

A newly built home in the 700 block of Via De La Paz sold off-market for $195,000 less than the asking price. Drawing inspiratio­n from East Coast Traditiona­l style, the two-story home has living and dining rooms, a wine cellar, five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. There are fireplaces in the den, master bedroom and family and living rooms. The house previously sold last year for $2.275 million, property records show. Anthony Marguleas of Amalfi Estates and Rod Aragon of Teles Properties were the listing agents. Flora Petrushkin­a of Lancelot Residentia­l represente­d the buyer.

$6.1 million — Palos Verdes Estates

An ocean-view home behind gates in the 900 block of Paseo La Cresta sold for $105,000 over the asking price. Set on a hillside of about an acre, the singlestor­y house has a tennis court, an in-ground spa and a multi-level gazebo and viewing deck. Floor-toceiling walls of glass take in views extending from downtown L.A. to Santa Catalina Island. Some 4,425 square feet of living space includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The property previously changed hands in 1975 for $125,000, according to property records. Chris Adlam and Rick Edler of Vista Sotheby’s Internatio­nal Realty were the listing agents. Wendy Sun of Re/Max Estate Properties represente­d the buyer.

$5.175 million — Brentwood

A Tudor-style home in the 2100 block of Mandeville Canyon Road sold for $320,000 less than the asking price of $5.495 million. Built in 1971, the two-story home sits behind gates on about three quarters of an acre with a koi pond, a swimming pool and spa and a four-car garage. Within the 6,000 feet of space is a double-height living room, a wood-paneled office/study, five bedrooms and 5.25 bathrooms. The formal dining room features a row of French doors that open to the grounds. The house sold in 2007 for $4.395 million. Santiago Arana of the Agency repped both sides of the transactio­n. These are the top residentia­l sales reported on the combined L.A./Westside Multiple Listing Service for Aug.16-22.
