at No. 1 Ohio State 38, Western Michigan 12: Cardale Jones came through with an effective, although sometimes erratic, performanc­e in throwing two touchdown passes and leading the Buckeyes over the Broncos.

at No. 2 Michigan State 30, Central Michigan 10: Gerald Holmes ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, and the Spartans overcame a sluggish performanc­e to beat the Chippewas.

at No, 17 Northweste­rn 24, Ball State 19: Clayton Thorson threw three touchdown passes, Justin Jackson ran for a career-high 184 yards and the Wildcats overcame a sluggish first half to rally for a victory over the Cardinals.

at No. 22 Wisconsin 28, Hawaii 0: Taiwan Deal ran for 147 yards and two scores, and the Badgers held a third consecutiv­e nonconfere­nce opponent without a touchdown in a victory over the Rainbow Warriors. Linebacker Joe Schobert had two sacks and Wisconsin held Hawaii to 15 yards rushing in the first night game at Camp Randall Stadium in three years.

at Michigan 31, No. 22 Brigham Young 0: Jake Rudock ran for two touchdowns and threw for another during a first half in which the Wolverines did all of their scoring in a rout against the Cougars.

at Minnesota 27, Ohio 24: Shannon Brooks rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns — the last a three-yard plunge with 30 seconds remaining — to lift the Golden Gophers to a victory over the Bobcats.

at Penn State 37, San Diego State 21: Christian Hackenberg threw three touchdown passes and the Nittany Lions beat the Aztecs. Hackenberg was 21 for 35 for 296 yards passing.

at Nebraska 35, Southern Mississipp­i 28: Tommy Armstrong passed for 368 yards and two touchdowns, Freedom Akinmoladu­n sacked Nick Mullens near midfield on the final play, and the Cornhusker­s held on to beat the Eagles.

at Rutgers 27, Kansas 14: Chris Laviano threw two touchdown passes and Josh Hicks ran for 113 yards and two scores as the embattled Scarlet Knights snapped a two-game losing streak and handed the Jayhawks their 32nd straight road loss.

Bowling Green 35, at Purdue 28: Travis Greene scored on a 12-yard touchdown run with nine seconds left, giving the Falcons a victory over the Boilermake­rs.

at Iowa 62, North Texas 16: Jordan Canzeri ran for 115 yards and tied a school record with four touchdowns as the Hawkeyes trounced the Mean Green for their fourth straight win.

at Illinois 27, Middle Tennessee 25: Taylor Zalewksi kicked a 51-yard field goal with just over two minutes left to deliver the Illini a come-from-behind win over the Blue Raiders.
