Warriors’ victory is their 70th of season

Stephen Curry scored 27 points and the Golden State Warriors became the second team to win 70 games in a season by beating the San Antonio Spurs, 112-101, on Thursday night at Oakland, wrapping up home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Warriors (70-9) and the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls are the only teams to win 70 games. Golden State can break Chicago’s singleseas­on record of 72 wins by sweeping the final three games, including a rematch Sunday in San Antonio.

Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points for the Spurs.

Curry took the game over in the third quarter, when he had 15 points and four assists — directly contributi­ng to 11 of Golden State’s 16 baskets.

Phoenix 124, at Houston 115: Mirza Teletovic scored 26 points off the bench and the Suns dealt another blow to the Rockets’ dwindling playoff chances. Phoenix scored 10 straight points to take a 117-110 lead with 1:03 left. Houston’s James Harden had 30 points.

at Miami 106, Chicago 98: The Heat clamped down in the final minutes for their ninth win in the last 10 games, and Dwyane Wade finished with 21 points. Jimmy Butler scored 25 for the Bulls who at 39-40 need a series of miracles to get into the postseason.

at Atlanta 95, Toronto 87: Jeff Teague scored 23 points in one of the season’s best performanc­es for the Hawks, who remained in third place in the Eastern Conference by beating the East’s No. 2 seed.

Minnesota 105, at Sacramento 97: Gorgui Dieng had 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Timberwolv­es, who swept the four-game series against the Kings.
