RESCUE AT SEA
A man clings to a boat in the Mediterranean Sea north of Sabratha, Libya. Italian naval ships and vessels from nongovernmental groups rescued thousands of migrants there who had been traveling toward Europe in 20 small wooden boats. Video showed migrants from Eritrea and Somalia cheering as the rescue boats arrived, with some jumping into the water and swimming toward them.
