Georgia Tech 17, Boston College 14: Freshman Dedrick Mills scored the winning touchdown on a four-yard run with 35 seconds remaining in a conference opener at Dublin. The Yellow Jackets won their first game played outside of the United States in the 124-year history of the program.

at Virginia Tech 36, Liberty 13: Jerod Evans threw for 221 yards and four touchdowns, and Justin Fuente picked up his first victory as coach of the Hokies. He replaced Frank Beamer, who retired after 29 years as Virginia Tech’s coach. The Flames had only 160 yards.

at Pittsburgh 28, Villanova 7: James Conner, the ACC player of the year in 2014, caught one touchdown pass and ran for one in his return from a seven-month battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He finished with 53 yards in 17 carries and caught three passes for 16 yards.

Richmond 37, at Virginia 20: Kyle Lauletta threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns to spoil Bronco Mendenhall’s debut as Cavaliers coach. The Spiders, of the Football Championsh­ip Subdivisio­n, outgained Virginia 524 to 302 yards in winning for only the third time in 33 meetings.

at Duke 49, North Carolina Central 6: Daniel Jones threw for two touchdowns and ran for one in his first college start, and Jela Duncan set the tone with a 50-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage. Duke had a 535-112 advantage in yards.

at Miami 70, Florida A&M 3: Brad Kaaya threw for four touchdowns on his 21st birthday and the Hurricanes scored a school-record 42 points in the third quarter. Joe Yearby, Mark Walton and Gus Edwards each ran for at least 100 yards, the first time a Miami trio has done that since 1987.
