Sanchez cut by Denver and signs with Dallas

- wire reports

Veteran quarterback Mark Sanchez, Denver’s biggest off-season acquisition, didn’t make the roster Saturday, saving the Broncos $3.5 mil- lion and a seventh-round draft pick.

Sanchez quickly agreed to a deal with Dallas, whose starter, Tony Romo, is expected to miss the early part of the season with a broken bone in his back. Sanchez will back up rookie Dak Prescott, the Cowboys said.

Vikings get Bradford

Philadelphia traded quarterback Sam Bradford to Minnesota for a first-round draft choice in 2017 and a fourth-rounder in 2018. Bradford replaces Teddy Bridgewater, out for the year after suffering a knee injury this week. Backup Chase Daniel and No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz are the candidates to start for the Eagles.

Police may boycott 49ers

The Santa Clara police union said its officers may stop working San Francisco 49ers home games amid quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand during the national anthem, a move he characterized as a protest against police brutality and racial injustice. Kaepernick also has worn socks that depict officers as pigs.

Also Saturday, Coach Chip Kelly announced that Kaepernick had made the final 53-man roster as backup to Blaine Gabbert.
