Re “Dog show in China? Activists call it bad taste,” Sept. 21

I found this article interesting, but horrifying. That being said, I must disagree with the opinion stated by PETA.

As a long time breeder (very few litters actually) and exhibitor, as well as an AKC licensed judge, no breeder of my acquaintance including myself has ever made a profit from the breeder/show dog fancy.

In fact, we are all pretty much losers in the money department (and no ethical breeder ever raises their dogs in small or otherwise cages). Eileen Weston

Please tell me it isn’t so. Your article states that the citizens of Yulin, China “skin dogs alive” prior to consuming them.

I think consuming dog meat is abhorrent, but to skin them alive is a level of depravity that is unimaginable. Don Drachand

I would support holding the World Dog Show in Shanghai for the same reason I would support peace talks in the Middle East: Keep the dialogue open and don’t turn our collective back on the suffering of innocents. Patti Blair
