AT&T, Time Warner talks

After its acquisitio­n of satellite television service DirecTV, telephone giant AT&T Inc. is setting its sights on Time Warner Inc. AT&T and Time Warner executives are close to what may be an $85-billion merger deal. The New York media company has assets — including HBO, CNN and film and TV studio Warner Bros. — that AT&T covets as it faces competitio­n from Silicon Valley.
