-

Texas Ryano won the $200,000 Hollywood Turf Cup by 31⁄4 lengths at Del Mar.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Texas Ryano ran 11⁄2 miles in 2:27.92 and paid $6.60, $3.20 and $2.10 as the 2-1 second choice in the wagering.

Ashleyluvssugar returned $2.40 and $2.10 as the 4-5 favorite in the Grade 2 race. Flamboyant was another 11⁄4 lengths back in third and paid $2.60 to show.

Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen and Thorbjorn Olesen launched an astonishing sub-par blitz to power into the lead after the second round of the World Cup of Golf at Melbourne, Australia, then the Danes pushed their advantage to four strokes after the third round.

The second-round 60 was crafted in strong southwesterly winds at Kingston Heath. The Danes took turns chipping in for eagle in a brilliant front nine of 29, six under par, as they combined superbly in the best-ball format. They reeled off five consecutive birdies on the homeward nine before Kjeldsen holed another birdie putt on the 18th green, and they followed with a round of 70.

The U.S. pair of Ricky Fowler and Jimmy Walker were moved into second place after rounds of 67 and 69. China was another shot back.

Uli Hoeness is back in charge of soccer power Bayern Munich 270 days after his early release from a 42-month prison term for tax evasion. Hoeness resigned as the club president in March 2014, one day after he was convicted of avoiding taxes on at least 28.5 million euros ($31 million) via an undeclared Swiss bank account.
